Accessibility statement
Accessibility of this website
This statement explains what we have done to make mycivic.eu accessible, where we still fall short and how to tell us about a barrier.
Last updated 28 October 2026
Our commitment
We want everyone to be able to use this website, whatever device or assistive technology they use. We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 level AA.
This statement covers mycivic.eu. It does not cover the MyCivic platform as deployed for a city or municipality. A deployment is covered by that institution's own notices and its agreement with MyCivic.
What we have done
On the current pages (Home, Platform, For Cities, Security & Data, What's New and its articles, About, and the privacy, cookies, accessibility and terms pages), you can:
- skip to the main content with a "Skip to content" link
- use everything with a keyboard alone, with a visible 2px teal outline showing where you are
- find one main heading on each page, with the other headings in a logical order and each page region labeled
- get a text description of each meaningful image, while decorative images are hidden from screen readers and other assistive technology
- pause the scrolling Expo announcement, shown on every page except the legal pages, with its pause button, or by hovering over it or moving to it with the keyboard
- stop all motion by setting your device to reduce motion
- use the interactive example on the Platform page, which has standard buttons and a standard drop-down list
- hear which options are selected, and when the results change, if you use a screen reader
- open and close collapsible sections, which use the browser's own controls
- use a small screen, as layouts are built to adapt down to 320 pixels wide without sideways scrolling
- read text in colors chosen with the aim of meeting WCAG 2.2 level AA contrast
Where we stand
The current pages do not yet fully meet WCAG 2.2 level AA. These are the gaps we know about:
- We have not yet reviewed the older pages still published on mycivic.eu, such as earlier design versions and the 3D map demonstration at mycivic.eu/twincity/.
- Text inside illustrative images, such as phone and dashboard mock-ups, is not repeated as text on the page. This may not fully meet WCAG success criterion 1.1.1 (Non-text Content).
- The pause button for the moving announcement needs JavaScript. Without JavaScript, the announcement pauses only while your pointer or keyboard is on it. This may not meet WCAG success criterion 2.2.2 (Pause, Stop, Hide). Setting your device to reduce motion stops it completely.
If one of these gets in your way, contact us and we will try to give you the information another way.
Report a barrier
If something on this website is hard to use, or you need content in another format, email contact@mycivic.eu. Please include:
- the address of the page
- what you were trying to do and what happened
- your device and browser, and any assistive technology, such as a screen reader or magnifier
We will reply to you by email. If you are not satisfied with our reply, write to us again and tell us why.
